Buenos Dias! - Our Cancun Vacay!

Ohh I've always wanted to visit Cancun and it was one of the destinations on my wishlist

How I wish I could say that . However our trip to Cancun had a boring reason behind it - Visa woes. I had to get a travel document extended and since we had to travel in January, we quickly picked Cancun as our travel destination. A few of our friends had visited the place and some quick tips helped us with our vacation planning.

We had a 4 nights 5 day trip to Cancun and I tell you it is not enough - a week perhaps.
We had a direct 4.5 hour flight to Cancun and we reached at about 11 in the morning.
Mexico has a Visa on Arrival policy for US Visa holders - so getting a tourist Visa costs nothing and takes 15 minutes  - Muchas Gracias Mexico for keeping it simple and making it so traveler friendly. Much Appreciated really .
At the airport we quickly exchanged some of our Dollars to Pesos and headed out to catch a cab to our hotel. Just as we stepped out , the warm, humid air greeted us and this Bong was quickly transported back to Kolkata. Well, so much for being homesick. The husband walked on ahead to arrange for a ride. We chose a shared ride to our hotel ( $16 pp) and after a brief wait packed ourselves into the van. Cancun is a beautiful city - Palm trees lining the clean roads, whitewashed pavements , blue skies all left us in awe. Reality Check - P was so awed that he lost his sunglasses on the way to the hotel . Note to self - Do not lose any more stuff in Mexico.
A 20 minute cab ride later we were right in front of our resort. The bell boys rushed in to get the bags and directed us to the hotel reception. Both of us stopped midway and exclaimed "Wow!!!" - we could see the pool, cabana , beach chairs and the beach bodies. The note to self was kicked out the door - We lost our hearts to Mexico!

We were given wristbands at the reception - the resort we chose was an All Inclusive one - All meals at any of their restaurants ,drinks, activities, minibar, room service etc. were all included and this wristband provided us with the necessary access. We were both hungry and since we would get our hotel rooms later we went to the buffet area to grab a quick lunch. "Quick". I thought so before I could see the spread - the buffet was huge and we both ate till we could eat no more. We made dinner reservations at one of their fine dining restaurants , grabbed some tour brochures from the travel desk and checked in to the hotel room. All the rooms in the hotel are sea facing so there is nothing called a bad view.
Now all is not perfect - how can it ever be ?? The Internet - Wifi cost is extra , a whopping $16 per day per device. Now isnt that unreasonable . A rip-off to say the least. While we were at the reception lobby , a timeshare guy greeted us and promised us free internet if we listened to their 60 min presentation the next day about Royal Caribbean . Free Internet sounded like music to our ears - We signed up.
That evening , we went off to Oriental restaurant at the hotel for our dinner. The restaurant's ambience, service, drinks were excellent , food was just ok though . After dinner we sat near the pool, happy and sad at the same time - end of day 1 of our trip to the Caribbeans.
